Hi!

I bought a brandnew looking VM200 and a fat manual ;) Ok, I can work with this Desk but I´m not able to work with sysex to control my Cubase SE. I tried MIDI-Ox but - hey - I do not understand anything!!

Is there some good ressource on the net? Something like "Sysex for Dummies"? >:-)

Or is it possible to get sysex templates for the vm200 and/or cubase SE

Cheers, Pepper

No need for anything special. But you need to map out the controllers. It's been a while since I've done it, but let me see if I can find my posts where I describe how to do it.

I was informed by Fostex that the vm200 does not generate sysex messages, even though the manual lists such.

I am able to use all the faders, buttons, and knobs, to move faders, pan, and channel on/off for twenty channels of my sound card software. This control software has a learn mode.

I verified that messages were not sent when in effects mode.

I've saved VM200 syx ex messages to SONAR before. Even the manual shows sys ex messages. Who at fostex informed you of that? weird.

I have saved and retrieved Bulk Dumps to/from Midi-Quest.

But, I have not been able to send Foxtex System Exclusive messages as are listed on page 217, 218 of the manual.

I wanted to be able to control effects selection and EQ settings. When these functions are active on the vm200 no midi info is sent, from MY vm200.

================================
Message/response to/from Fostex

I now have a vm200 controlling a Yamaha DSPF via c-mexx:
master faders for
stereo bus
aux 1-4
effects 1 and 2

chan 1-20 (of DSPF)
fader
pan
chan on/off
aux sends
effects sends

I have not been able to send individual system exclusive messages. I can
send/receive bulk dumps. But the midi interface, and mapper, do not indicate
transmission for other parameters. Maybe it is the unit I have. 'Tis version 2 of the software. Others have told me their unit does send such messages.

Issue #: 4990

J,

Sorry for the delay. I was on vacation 21-27 of July.

I am afraid to tell you that statement on System Exclusive on page 188 is wrong.
VM-200 does not transmit Sytem Exclusive message when you change mixer parameter.
VM-200 receives the System Exclusive message to change mixer parameter from external device.
VM200 also transmit Sytem Exclusive status message if the status inquiry message is received.
However, VM-200 does not transmit Sytem exclusive message, press SOLO button or Channel ON button.

Sorry for the confusion.

================================

I have not attempted sending sysex messages to change one setting.
