Vito Bratta, why hast thou forsaken me?

The Jaco thread got me thinking, "What guitar players have fallen off the face of the planet?"

I hated Mike Tramp's lyrics and voice, but Vito Bratta (White Lion) knew how to create a lyrical phrase (ignore the singer and listen to "Wait" - just the guitar parts) and I miss the sound of his axe.

Rumor has it that Vito is chiilin' in New Jersey and hasn't picked up a guitar in years, very sad if true. How can someone with as much talent as he obviously had just quit? I wish Guitar Player or Guitar World would do ao story on the MIA's of the guitar pantheon.

Who do you miss?

definately Vito Brata
also...
Vinnie Vincent
Adrian Vandenburg
Bruce Kulick
Aldo Nova
Gar Samuelson
Jeff Watson
Brad Gillis
Jake E Lee
Warren DiMartini

Every now and then I see Aldo Nova turn up in the credits for a song or two on someone else's albums. In fact, the last was a Jon Bon album, if I remember correctly.

There's a big "No Sh!t!" on that one. I don't think he turned up for the 3 album either.

Which reminds of the absence of Nuno Bettencourt...

...and what ever happened to Jon Norum, who ripped it up on the first Europe album?

I had heard some time back that Nuno and Steve Perry (whom I also miss) of Journey were working on some stuff together. I guess nothing ever came of it.
I know John Norum released some solo albums, the first of which was called "Total Control", an apparent jab at his former bandmates. It was very good Swedish rock, like Yngwie except without all the annoying Yngwie.
An even better guitarist IMO was his replacement in Europe: Kee Marcello. Wow, that guy could play!

And oh by the way, what happened to Elliot Easton? Last I heard he was touring with that piece of shit CCR Revival band.

Who saw that coming?

Are you kidding me?? Creedence without John Fogarty??? I dont think so. The Cars need to do a reunion.

where to start ??????

well i heard that th reason vito put down th guitar was because he was doing some wicked classical stuff and din't warm up first and it screwed up his hand real bad and he didn't play for like 2 years ......i think before long we'll see a VH reunion with hagar ,i hope with in th year if not th next 2 years ,read where hagar was all up for it but not in a studio situation or with any record guys present you know just a sitdown with th boys for some jams but he all but said it was gonna happen....and john norum started the (brace yourselves)DOKKEN tour but last i heard he had been replaced ....later

The Cars could never do a real reunion, since their best singer died...

Benjamin Orr was my favorite Car....

R.I.P.

Not to be a nit-picker, but Gar Samuelson was the drummer on Megadeth's first two albums; he died in 1999. Maybe you were thinking of Chris Poland? He's a seriously great guitarist with a unique style.

I would probably add Vinnie Moore and Tony Macalpine just for fun. And you probably know the answer to this, KE — what about past Thin Lizzy guitarists Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson?

Damn...MY BAD!!! Yeah I couldnt remember his name and I got Gar in my head. Didnt Thin Lizzy tour recently with John Sykes and Scott Gorham?? I cant even begin to imagine Lizzy without Phil Lynott.

Yeah, I don't know much about them, but I do know that Phil was TL, really. It would be like Motorhead touring or recording without Lemmy.
