January '08 issue of Maximum PC - on Vista

Maximum PC is a magazine dedicated to the highend gamers who push their PC's to the absolute limits.

This latest issue has an entire article on how to make 23 adjustments to your Vista... "to make it tolerable."

They have also been dogging out Vista for the past year, calling it the "reign of terror".

If you wish to get great, objective, benchmark tests, and the whole 9 yards, check out this magazine.

I'm going to have to learn it / possibly certify in it (Vista) eventually.

A buddy showed me the new Linux Mandrivia 2008 or whatever it is called today at his office.

Looks really awesome, can be booted and used from a thumb stick. You can actually surf the internet WHILE it is installing.

I've been playing with Mac Lep-tard as well. So far so good.

2008 is the year I migrate away from Windows, as best as I can.

Except for Audio stuff..... REAPER + Windows XP + M-Audio Project Mix I/O is a dream come true. I couldn't be happier with this setup.... and my PC is like, 4 years old.

Vista+Sonar+Emu 1616m, have had it working since summer, even done remote recording with it, I know I'm brave, but it's never failed me. I heard all the horror stories about compatibility, but I put the disc in My old P4 dell and had it working in about 20 minutes only had to install one driver(outside of the emu)

There is a feature called ReadyBoost that can use USB stick and other flash memory as RAM. I haven't looked into it yet, but will soon

That sound interesting...but isn't that just the same as using your hard drive for paging files? Is USB even fast enough to use as RAM?
