I am going to the NAMM show this sunday. I plan to have alot of time at the Cakewalk booth. Is there any questions that should be asked?

(like, where can I find free Sonar caps?).

I just got back from the show and had a good time. I can't go tomarrow (Sat.) due to my dayjob is really busy. BUT, sunday is open all day to hang with my fellow musicians!!!

I've got a few questions regarding BEST multichannel interfaces for Sonar and my PC. I'm looking at:
1. Delta 1010
2. MOTU 828 or 2408
3. Frontier Designs Tango
4. RME Multiface
5. STaudio DSP2000 CPort

The questions are simply, which have WDM drivers? Lowest latency? Easiest installation? I don't know if Sonar will work with 4 and 5.
I'll be going to the User Group meeting in Boston Feb 5, so don't sweat it. Any answers you can't get Sun, maybe I can get then. Enjoy the show!;)

Cakewalk came to my town 6 months ago, they were using a Delta 1010.
Guess that's why I bought one.

Which OS do they recomend?
WinXP?
Win2000?
Win98se?
Win95?
Win 3.1?
Maybe DOS? Cause I've got my 286 running at 4mhz with .5 mb of ram and 270 mb hard drive ready to go!

The answers to all those questions can be found on the Cakewalk site or at the product.Sonar newsgroup.

How about:
1) Will they be changing the layout of that antique console view?
2) Will they be adding any more directx8 effects to the basic package?
3) Are they going with customizable skins for 2.0?
4) Will they enhance the dual CPU support so that, like cubase, it will run all your plugs on one cpu, and audio on the other.
5) How about TDM support so we can run Ampfarm (the coolest distortion plug of all time) and McDSP (also the coolest) and Sony Oxford Eq (the coolest).
A TDM wrapper wouldnt be too hard now, would it guys?

I've seen the Cakewalk guys' mobile rig with the Delta 1010 hooked up, but the guy who ran the last user group I went to in Boston says the Tango WDM drivers rock and that the latest 1010 (this was Nov.) were a problem. A1mixman, which drivers did you use? Can you record 8-10 tracks simultaneously? Also at the meeting I went to, one of the developers was there. He owns a 1010 and he said Sonar was DEVELOPED on Win2k. Also, I agree that Amp farm kicks max butt. I'd love to see that in direct x.:D

Yeah, how damn stupid is it for a company to only release its plugs for a single platform like TDM? The least users of all, less money for your pockets. This program would go nuts in the DXI market cause it sounds as good as it gets for ampsim software and you can change tones mid riff. Its actually just a POD, but on snare and some clean guitar and bass sounds it kills.

I use the latest drivers on their website.
I haven't tried to record that many tracks at once.
I was having trouble with "something" but not sure what it was.
I thought I had too much other "crap" installed on my machine so I did a fresh install of just WinXP Pro, Sonar, and the Delta drivers.
Some of the same problems keep coming up, so not sure what to do about it now.
I haven't tested it alot yet but plan to soon.

I'm 90% sure I'm getting the 1010. Bayview has it for $490 shipped! Hard to beat. I want to record live drums and 8 analog ins ought to be enough. I'd like to get it up and running by Feb. 5, so I can bitch at the user group in case it doesn't:) Thanks for the driver info. I'm gonna stick w/win2k unless it sux. Good to know XP is making it for you.

$490 shipped... very good price. Gives you some room to buy a genx-6 with that.
I think I might take that route if this dude sells the Motu1224 out of under me. He's only asking $400 for the 1224... sweet...
