I ordered a PCI Express videocard online it is a ATI Radeon X600 PCI-Express 128MB Video Card DVI. Ok so i'm so excited to install this thing only to find out that the bracket that hold the card is too small for my Desktop computer, it seems that the connectors will fit in the slot but because of the bracket being too small it cannot be installed on my desktop.....not sure what's going on, is the videocard designed for smaller sized computers maybe like the Dell Optiplex and is there a solution....? Thank you.

Just Take the Bracket off and Buy a new one and put it on your Video card....

All that Holds the Card to the Bracket (Usually) is 2 small bolts on either side of each of the Connectors......

I have done this several times with Video cards and even sound cards and other Periferal cards......

Cheers

I was thinkin of that but it looks like the bracket was soldered to something but i'll go check again when i get home

Sounds like it was designed for a low profile case. You could just straighen out the bracket then it will go in all the way. But being a computer professional I would refrain from leaving it that way for very long even though you have the
little plastic bracket at the rear of the slot that keeps it held in. If it did come lose it could fry your mother board.

It shouldn't be soldered perhaps riveted, just drill it out.
The last PCI express card I bought a NVidia 7600GS came with both plates.
maybe you could just take the bracket off an old card, seems like everyone
has a couple old computers laying around these days.

I'm not sure what gives on the HP's I was unable to find a CMOS setting that would allow me to use the onboard video along with the PCI express card. I'm glad I bought a card with dual DVI ports on it.

Oh great...my new card is for one monitor i was gonna use it for dual monitor setup along with my onboard...but i guess i'm out of luck :/

Revamp, sounds like you need to send it back. Go to tiger direct and find the Nvidia GeForce card with 2 DVI's and 512 MB. I think this card was $120 before the rebate. The Rebate never happened due to tigers screwed up rebate system. Then see if you can find that same card somewhere else.
It will boost your performance from the mid 3's to almost 5 if your running Vista.

Looks like the have a GT with 512MB now with out the fan which should be the right form factor for you since it has dual DVI.
