Yo, I will be building a new computer soon for recording and for day to day computer tasks, also a little gaming. I will probably buy a single 19" monitor for now, but I want to leave room to get another 19" if recording on the single 19" gets cluttered. I have heard about the Matrox G450 that has dual monitor outs, but hasn't this been out for a while, will it hold up to the newer games being put out? Are there any other cards that have dual monitor out that you guys can suggest? Thanks.

I am using an ATI Radeon ve for dual monitors. It works great, but I don't use it for gaming.

Not sure if you can get both high performance and dual output in one card. You'll have to do some shopping.

You could always use two PCI cards if you have the slots. One high end card for gaming, and the other one could be a cheap one.

The Matrox cards, while having the best dual monitor support and the best 2d quality, suck for gaming. I just put together a DAW for a friend using a Matrox G550 and its gaming performance on Return to Castle Wolfenstein is about the same as my old as hell Riva/TNT card.

Most of the newer Nvidia and Ati cards have dual outputs, with one being a DVI output, but the cards usually come with an adapter for connecting analog monitors. Check out the Ati 8500 series - they offer good quality and good game performance for relatively little cost.

I have an ATI All in Wonder AGP that I use as my graphic card, but I have an extra monitor lying around and thinking of setting up dual monitors. Can I just buy a cheapee PCI card and use that for my second monitor? BTW I'm using Win2k.
