Vf80ex..??

I am waiting on my VF80EX to arrive. Anyone with experience on this unit?good or bad... I wanted to ask around b4 I ordered, but Music123 had 1 for $540 w/CD burner..(& a free bag ) I hope I did the rite thing....I tried the MR8. Like some of the threads I see here, I did not like the CF deal...I like the idea of recording,mixing & burning on the same Box....I just hope it won't take a rocket scientist to get it done....Thanks in advance for any input on this..

I loved mine. I needed more tracks, so I got the VF160. These can be had for about $799.00

The only downside to the VF80 series is that it isn't true 8-track recording. It is six tracks, with tracks 7&8 being reserved for mixdown [If you plan to record and mixdown internally]. This is not a problem for me since I believe that "bouncing down" or track reduction can be a useful effect. Of course the "guru" of this recording technique is the great Sir George Martin, who had to utilize this technique for four years in recording the Beatles until EMI finally coughed up the money to equip Abbey Road studio with 8-track machines in late 1968--of course by then state of the art studios were using either 16- or 24- track machines.
Sgt. Pepper was recorded in four-track.
