hey guys,
so i own the Fostex VF80 (a DAW)...and while listening to the MP3 that i had posted on the net(so it can be ripped to shreds with criticism ) i noticed that it sounded nothing like the sound coming out of my DAW. let me describe to you how i hook my VF80 to my comp: i take the sound straight outta the headphones out, straight into the line in on my comp, record in .wav format i believe ( it says on the prog that i use for record that it records in PCM format, at 44,100Hz, 16bit, stereo), then convert it to MP3. i compared that with the sound of my DAW plugged into the line in of my computer...and i really was shocked...in the most unpleasant way (now i realise why everyone was telling me how incredibly crappy my recordings where lol).
what can i do to improve the sound quality?? unfortunatly i got the VF80 model that doesnt have the CDR (baaaad mistake...sorely regret that), but if this is the problem i can get a CDR for it. i also thought of getting a sound card that has S/P DIF input on it (the coaxial input...not the optical one) - would this help, as the VF80 has s/pdif coaxial output??
thanks,
MD
ps i'm also having trouble with file size. the mp3 is 3:39 long, and weighs in at 8.37 MB....seems rather hefty huh?? what can i do to change this without loosing too much sound quality?
