VF160: chorus on vocal?

On the VF160--Does anyone know if i can put chorus on a vocal WHILE i am recording it? I've tried using the instructions and reading the manual some more but i've seen nothing about this.

I think the answer is no, unless you manage to go through the aux in/outs using an external effects machine, or use the inserts on tracks 7 or 8. But I'm not sure. The VF160 rightly records dry because once you record with an effect you can't go back and reduce it or remove it. You can add an effect on a given track by doing a bounce to another track, while adding the effect. Then on mixdown you can add 2 more effects...

Thank you billisa. I guess i'll have to get used to hearing dry vocal until mixdown. That's a shame because i got used to it, but i know it's best in the long run, like you said- to do it post-side. Appreciate you!

I´m not sure if I understood you correctly, but if you mean that can you listen an effected sound at your headphones while you record your vocals,the answer is yes. When recording in BUSS-mode you can apply EQ to your sound (see manual page 45).Instead of using EQ I tried to add some reverb on my vocals to hear effected sound of my voice while recording and it worked!

(Apparently it isn´t recorded with effect but you can store the chorus in scene along other effects)

This is entirely correct. You can add an effect to the monitored sound as you record, but it will not be applied to the track... I think most people feel it's easier to sing/perform when reverb is added. You can easily do this with the VF160, then actually apply the effect later.
 
YTeah man.. I do the same thing all the time except with reverb and not Chorus. You know.. reverb . . on the guitar so I can sound like I',m playin leas guitar at an empty arena. It rocks!!!1111
 
you CAN record effects

Hey guys, I'm shocked!!
You *can* record your internal effects. In buss record mode when choosing the source channels you can also select EFF1 or EFF2. This routes the effect return to the track you are recording on.
But there may be a downside to this: if you record the vocal with chorus you cannot vary the amount of chorus later. Also, if you record vocal plus effect to one track (that is, in mono) you may lose something from the effect because it's not stereo.
I tend to use reverb during recording (in the performer's mix), but without recording it. In any case, as already stated, you can save the mix scene with the effect set so that it plays back every time.
