Anyone know of a tool that'll let me mount and read a VF08 IDE drive on a PC? I have tried just putting it on the IDE buss in my PC, but the file system is not recognized. It is supposedly FAT16, and I remember awhile back coming across the DIY code someone wrote to do just what I want to do, but I can no longer find it. Short story: assume VF-08 unit is toast, but the internal HD (which is IDE, formatted as FAT16) is OK. How can the contents (i.e. the WAV files for all tracks) be dumped to a XP disk? Or even a Linux disk, I suppose...
Any help most appreciated! Thanks.

The VF-08 can write to a FAT16-formatted disk via the SCSI port, but I didn't think the internal hard drive was FAT16. It's probably some Fostex format. I could be wrong. I'd ask Fostex, although I actually know nothing about their customer service or tech support.

There is a link to someone who was working on a program to enable a PC and/or Mac to read FDMS3 formatted drives. I'll post it later when I get home.
