VF-16 TO 'PUTER

micker2112,

If the SB has SPDIF in's and out's, you can get an optical converter to go from optical to SPDIF. If the card does not have these I/O's then, you can go from the optical to SPDIF (Fostex sells one COP-1) then get a converter to go from the SPDIF to USB. Software....I use Calkwalk Home Studio ($69-$89) and/or Guitar Tracks ($49-$69) to mix down to a wav file and then burn to a CD. That was a while ago. Now I just burn 8 tracks of the VF-16 straight to a Philips 770. Works great.

Line outs

Or you can use the line outs from VF-16 (rca), plug in a RCA to 1/8 mini plug adapter (make sure it's a stereo adapter, not mono!!) and go straight into the line in of your sound card. I've used that setup and it works ok, terrible noise floor, but it's a cheap option.

Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge XP is a decent Stereo .wav file editor for under $100.00 . One of the better programs you will find for the price. Maybe check out pro tools free, you can get from digidesign web site for free. It's actually a multitrack recorder but it would work. Have heard quite a few people have had problems with it though. But hey, for a free download it might be worth a try and if it does work it comes with some good plug ins as well.

good Luck :-)
Phil.
