I have a Fostex VF-16 and when i try to bounce the tracks down or "Ping Pong" record them i cant get the effects to work. I set everything right. I'll tell you exactly what i do:

1. I press the input select button. and set it so that channels 9-16 are green.

2. I press the Buss Source button so that it is green. I then press the tracks i want to mix down.

3. I then press the Buss Record button and select channels 15 and 16.

4. I then record. While it's recording I turn the volume up on some parts and down on some parts. And then I turn on some effects on. So on some harmony's I'll turn the effect up and on some solo's I'll turn it down. And obviously it's playing while it's recording so i can hear the effects working.

5. When I listen to the finished version, none of the effects were mixed down. The volume adjustments were mixed down but the effects weren't.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanx.

Same problem

Yeah..I hear that 8Ball.

I'm encountering the same problem. I recorded like 5 tracks, using eff. 1 on three of the tracks and eff. 2 on two of the tracks. Then I recorded back down to tracks 15 and 16 and none of the effects were present upon playback of 15 and 16 alone.

I then wrote all of the tracks (1-5 and 15, 16) to a zip disk in .wav format and when I listened to them on my computer, NONE of the tracks have the effects on them, not the original 5 or 15 and 16. How is it possible to mix them down then, with the effects?

I mean, I know I can add effects to channels 15 and 16, but then I am forced to pan either effect hard to opposing sides in order to isolate them from each other. It sucks.

Somebody...answer...please...

Hi there,

gritzy, i saw your mail. i read both posts and the only thing i can think of now (don't have it here, after the weekend i can try out what you're describing myself) is if you guys have selected the effects as 'Input Source'? Otherwise they won't 'stick to tape', so to say.

Also, only when the wet signal has been recorded to a track can it be exported as a wav file. If you want to export single tracks with the effects, you need to bounce it together with the wet signal to track 15/16 first, then export it. You can always exchange the track back to its original 'channel'.

Very good resource: www.vf16.com

Hope this helps,

micmac

Got It

I figured it out. when you're entering you're buss source you must hit the channels u want for you're source and then u must also hit the effect buttons.
