Hello I'm new here and I recquire some very basic info.
I am an avid collector of music, vinyl and cd and all I need to know is how to convert music from my turntable onto cd-r via my pc.
I have purchased microsoft plus! digital media edition and the hardware/connections I need are unheard of in sunny England.

Can anyone tell me in the simplest language what I might need for this?

Thank you

Yeah. You need the hardware/connections. That is a RIAA preamp (inbuilt in most consumer amplifiers) and a soundcard. And some cables.

tutorial

I found this information very helpful:

http://blazeaudio.com/howto/lp-overview.html

It contains a tutorial on how to transfer vinyl (or cassette) to your computer. Though the above site also offers software for the purpose you stated, and (I believe) even offers a month's free trial of the software, I did not find the EQ feature very usable. I use a program from Cakewalk called Pyro 2004 (you can find it by going to Cakewalk.com) that is designed for the same purpose.

thanks

Thank you for helping.
I have actually sorted the problem this afternoon and successfully copied some vinyl onto my media player.
I look forward to bothering you again.
Thanks, Jerry
