Haven't bit yet

I was gonna ask you the same thing. :D

Actually I'm still trying to get things working on the new PC, so it might be a while before I take the plunge. Have you checked the discussion board on FASoft's site? Maybe I'll go do that now.

I've been trying to use the DirectX apps, and all I get is "This program has performed an illegal operation, and it will be shut down!""

I have to revert to Audio Compositor to record my midi tracks, because I get INCREDIBLE hiss on them when I use N-Track.

Hmmm...

Oh wait!!! That was version 2.22222222....

Let me d/l the latest and get back to you on this.

Version 2.2 is working perfectly for me. I read the changes with 2.3, and there's nothing I need so I'm going to leave it alone for now.

group tracks

2.3 allows you to group tracks - this is a big plus

Have you tried it yet?

bdeminil

Are you using 2.3 yet? If so, is the group feature working?

I thought I remember people reporting problems with groups in the Fasoft Discussion Board. I'll double check that when I get home from work just to make sure (I know, I know. I'm wasting time here, so why not waste a little more and just check now?!?!).

What I want to know is...how is grouping tracks any different than using the AUX busses? I would send tracks to the aux channel and mute their individual ouputs....thereby I could control the volume and effects of a group of tracks using an aux channel. Somebody clue me in to the difference!

One trick that seems to minimise the problems is to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version, including manually deleting files with windows explorer from the folder that the uninstall program leaves behind.
The signal flow of the group function gangs the selected tracks just prior to the mixer dialog, where the group shows up as a new track. You can then use the auxs or not as desired.
I like your workaround,Slack!Clever.
What I did was to render (for example) backup vocals or drum tracks to mixdown, rename as "vocals",mute the original tracks of the group and then reimport the group track so I could have one knob control everything without tweaking the relative levels of the group.

I tried out the group function on 2.3 - it seems to work fine. I'm using it to send different groups of tracks to different outputs on my soundcard.

I guess that would be useful if you needed tracks 1, 2, and 3 to go to a reverb but tracks 1 and 2 to one output and track 3 to another....I guess somebody would have use for that....not me....

Anyway - in my opinion its a nicer interface than using the aux channels.
