Hi,

In Hs 2002 is it possible to change the velocity of an audio track all along the song the same way we can change the tempo in the window tempo for midi tracks ?

If not what are the possibles alternatives ?

Thanks,

SergeD

When you say velocity, do you mean the speed of the track? You want it at a faster (or slower) tempo?

There is a time stretch/shrink function available in Sonar (and in HS2002 I imagine) that is probably what you are looking for - but I have never got any good results from it (or any other one, for that matter). If you want a different tempo, my humble suggestion would be to re-record it.

Not exactly,

I mean change the volume (crescendo, decrescendo) in the audio track.

If you are speaking of midi type velocity, my understanding is that is not really volume, per se. Rather it is how hard the note is struck. The only way to control how hard the note is struck in audio, is to strike the note hard when you play it. :)

However, if you want to control volume on audio tracks, use volume envelopes. An envelope will allow you precise control over the volume at any part of the track you wish.

If you haven't used them, you're gonna love them.

I'm sure they are covered in your manual. Plus do a search on this forum, they've been covered many times.

Serge,

One of the HS2002 tutorial files uses volume envelopes. The envelopes look like thin blue lines weaving up and down along the length of the track. Where there is a change in direction a small blue square appears. That's a node.

You have to create the envelope in the appropriate track then add nodes where you want to exercise control. Search the help file for Envelopes and don't forget to check out those tutorial files.

Like Dachay says, they are very useful tools to have at your disposal.

Serge,

Tutorial No 8 is the one with the Envelopes.
