Is Vegas just for videos, or is it also a great recording program?

It's a great, very intuitive multitrack audio program!! Vegas 4 has some excellent improvements over VV3, but there are a few bugs still being worked out - still very usable and stable though! IMHO, it's the best multitrack software I've worked with, and I've played with almost all of them for PC. Cubase or Nuendo would be my next choices, but Vegas allows me to work faster and more efficiently.

Plus, it's got 5.1 sound... Thanks for the info!!

I started multitracking audio in Vegas. It is a cool program.
But SF's focus was clearly video, that is where
they put their effort, and I'm an audio guy.

Who can predict now that SF has sold out.
I'd bet that the video will get stronger
faster than the audio, but that is
uninformed guesswork.

Does Vegas Video do MIDI at all?

My hope is that Adobe wants to add more audio funtionality to Premiere, and not just sink a video editing competitor. Having better audio capability in Premiere would make me a very, very happy multi-media geek. As is, I do only basic audio editing in the video programs, export a tiny video with full quaity audio, and fly it into pro tools for all the fancy stuff. Best of both worlds, but having DX and VST plugs in premiere would be nice.

Either that or Sonic Foundry's audio programs are going to be Adobe's answer to Apple's Final Cut and Logic 1-2 punch. If that's the case, they had better be planning to sink a LOT of development in to them!
