At that price you can afford to put a Peluso CEK-89 into it for another $100 and have something nicer - get rid of the somewhat spitty top end the stock capsules has.

...

I have alot of nicer mics, gefell, akg, blue, etc., I was thinking of upgrading it, so the capsule advice helps. Thought it might be fun to frankenstien the mic with alot of stuff. Any tube suggestions? I think it has a 12AT7 in it.

I'm also going to change the power supply, opened it up and it scared me, not a good design, maybe toroidal, I don't know yet.

Keep up the advice, I'd love more input.

I haven't used it myself, but have heard good things about it.

Where are you getting it for $75??? Hook a brother up! :)

...

Special price from my retailer. When you buy 50k in equipment in a year, you usually get killer deals thrown at you.

At that price it's definitely worth it! If it was me, I'd get it, and already have one!

...

I understand it's cheap, but WHY should I get it? Explain your experience, comparisons, etc...

Blue Groove, you could buy it for $75, sell it to me for $100...I'll use it for awhile and then share my experiences with you. Deal? :D

I've never had one but if you buy it and modify it, it gives you another tool, another brush, another color to work with. Who knows? It just might be the right mic at the right time for the right voice.
ALSO: If you choose not to take advantage of that $75 purchase opportunity, I am clearly interested in doing so with your blessing and assistance. :)

I bought it...

...it's great,

...for $75. The power supply sucks, so does the capsule like indicated above. I'm replacing the tube and capsule today, also my electrical engineer is designing a better power supply, it should be done monday when we get the parts.

Overall I'd say good for a tube mic under $1k. I think I like the CAD M9 a little better.
