I have been using the V93M for a few days now and have very pleased with it.

I took a small plunge today and picked up a pair of 603s' along with a V67G (shockmount included). I hope I don't get ones from a bad batch (if they're still around).

Here's my mic list so far, please feel free to comment on my cabinet so far and what you base your opinions on (experience, what others are saying, etc.)

- Rode NT2

- Behringer ECM 8000 (pr.)

- AKG D310

- AKG C-414B-TLII

- MXL V93M

- MXL V67G

- MXL 603s (pr.)

- Neumann TLM-103 (fall '02)

- Rode NTK or BLUE Baby Bottle (May, 2002)

I use mostly BLUE Kiwi cables into a VLZ/Pro. Saving now for Earthworks or Sytek purchase.

I don't know if you went this way or not, but Sam
Ash matched an online price quote for me on the V67G against the V67M from Mars. They sent it shipped for $105, w/o shockmount. $29 extra for shockmount.

What? No SM57s. What kind of a recordist are you?!:D

Get at least one, now, or we won't allow you to post here anymore!:D

BTW, nice cabinet.

Add some more...

I'd add a few sm57's, a couple of Senn MD421's, and D112.

Haha

Here's mine, I think you have me beat:

1 SM57
2 Behringer ECM8000
1 MXL V67m

I'm rocking it up.

Dudes, dudes... settle down. Heheh. I DO have access to many mics, including SM57, SM58, AKG's, U87's, blah, blah.

I actually will get my own SM57. Was shopping around yesterday.

That was a deal on the V67G!!! I'm paying $189 w/ shockmount. Maybe I can call them and cancel the V67G.

Wonder if 8th Street price-matches (??)

Most places have a 30 day price match guarantee. If you find it lower, they will reimburse, or match, or whatever. I actually got turned down a bunch, bought a V67M from mars, then got an email that said they would beat it. Now I got 2, one black and one green/gold.:D :D

I'd do it. I'll sell you a new v67 w/ shockmount for $140. :) Or you can just order it from Mars.

About your mic locker . . . Don't you think you have enough Large-diaphragm Condensers? I just can't imagine what I would do with all of them. I have two -- one of them I use occasionally on vocals, and the other one I use as a drum overhead and accoustic guitars every now and then. I just can't imagine what I'd do with that many . . . and with so many good ones on your list (Rode nt2 / ntk / neumann, etc.) at least 2 or more will very likely go idle.

Unless you're running an actual studio and you need that many to accomodate a growing client list. Or maybe you're a collector of LDC's in which case I can understand. :)

Definitely invest in a couple dynamics. SM-57's are handy. Get an EV RE-20 or an MD421 as listed above. The AT ATM-25 is another good dynamic for kick, bass cabs, and the bottom of a Leslie. Scrounge around for the old omni dynamic EV635a's while you're at it.

You've got the condenser end of things more than taken care of.

Don't rule out a ribbon either.

So far, my humble lil cabinet consists of:

AT4033SE
MXL V67M
MXL 603S (pair)
SM-58
ATM-25

I wasn't planning on getting a V67...but, the green one is just so smoothe looking. Looks impressive...esp with the gold.

I did the Sam Ash match price thing...i told him I'd take it with the shockmount for $29 if he wanted to match the mars price again.

If not, guess I don't really care. C3 is the mic I actually want.

Just out of curiosity what do you use thoses old EV omnis for?

Chessrock,

Each mic has a different "signature", which is why I enjoy the variety of choices.

One of my next mid-price purchase will definitely be a Shure SM-7b dynamic. That should add a nice balance to all these condensors.

The SM7 is definitely a good choice! It's extremely tight and focued, but you'll need a pre with lots of gain to get it to a proper volume.
