Ok, i have the v-drums TD-6 model. I have a P-4 laptop with a USB2 card. I originally tried MIDIing the V-drums brain to the laptop with USB1 and the latency was ridiculously bad. At that time i was using fruityloops but now i have m-box (w/pro tools le) and a USB2 card that I needed for my external drive. Are there USB2 MIDI adapters? Will the latency be better? How exactly do I make this all work for me?

Will it be easier to just record my drum parts with the brain and then just play that part into the m-box as audio(this is what i have been doing with pretty decent success but it does sound a little fake sometimes)? is there a better way?????

should i just scrap the whole thing and get some real drums and mic then through a small mixer to 2 channels? (expensive and loud)

i know a lot of questions but i really need your help...thanks!

What do you mean by latency here? I'm guessing you are talking about Fruity Loop's softsynths responding to your playing?

MIDI data transfer should work perfectly fine with a USB 1.0 port -- it worked fine with serial and parallel ports too. Getting the MIDI data through a faster port will do absolutely nothing for you.

Latency is typically an issue with softsynths responding to MIDI messages, but it's not the MIDI interface that's the bottleneck -- it's the softsynth needing to respond to the message and generate the requested sound that's the problem. What you need is WDM or ASIO drivers for your audio hardwrae that are fast enough to make this latency negligible. Oh, and of course your recording environment (Pro Tools LE) needs to support such drivers.

yeah man,
record your MIDI drums with stupid sounding midi sounds,
once you recorded it all you change the sounds into kick ass VST sounds

i also got the TD6 , not so found of the intern sounds,
but its fun to drum on an analog kit AND the TD 6 at the same time,

when you record, don't make your pc sweat,
make him sweat when its all there and saved and everything :D
