I Need V-Amp Pro help...

How in the world do you change the cabinets on the v-amp pro? I have read the directions and I still can not figure it out. Help!!!

Also, if I want to use the v-amp editor software to change the setting for the v-amp via my computer instead of on the v-amp is all I need is a midi cable to go from the v-amp to my m-audio 2496 sound card?

You need 2 midi cables to use the V-Amp Editor software. It will give you a drop down list of all the cabinet models. My favorite is none of them. They all sound like you are playing through a coffee can. I turn those tinny sounding pieces of crap off and use only the Ultra-G simulation from the XLR and headphone outs in L2 mode.

Can you use the Ultra-G with no Midi? I am using the S/pdif or what ever it is to go into my m-audio 2496 card. How you change the cabintes with out the software??? ANything I tought one button everything changes. I ahve read the instuctions tons of times and I can not find out how to change the cabinets.

ALso, how do you get the Master volume to work? No mater what setting I have turning it up or down does nothing. I need to ahve the volume knob turned to at least 8 to get any volume. Is this normal?

Yea you need two midi cables, or a 2 way midi cable that has two connectors on each end. You need a MIDI In and a MIDI Out on each end.

To change cabinet models without midi, you hold down both arrow buttons at the same time, then after the screen goes blank, hit "C". You will now see a number that corresponds to a cabinet model. There is a list of these in the V-AMP's manaul.

As far as cabs, I am just the opposite of Ocnor, I don't care for the ultra-g as a cab model. I dig the V-AMP's 'Standard '78' (#13) or the 'Vintage 30' (#12) model for most rhythm stuff.

Sometimes for leads, it is worth it to experiement with every cab. I have gotten some decent sounding metal lead tones with the '1x8 vintage tweed' cab model (#1), the '1x12 mid combo' (#4) or the 'V-AMP 2x12" custom' (#10), using the british hi-gain or modern hi gain pre amp. For a super heavy Dimebag or metallica type tone try the "4x12 Off-Axis" (#14), it tends to be kind of boomy, but with some tweaking can get a super heavy tone. I guess it is all personal preference. I have said before, you will not get a better sound than you would if you had a nice amp to mic, but you can get some very worakable, heavy tones.

Trying to edit from the front panel is a nightmare. Do yourself a favor and get the midi cables. Once you see how easy it is to edit with the software you will kick yourself in the ass for not doing it sooner. The manual will make much more sense also.

Could you or anyone point me in the right direction as to what kind of midi cables I would need to buy? Like maybe a link on Musician's Friend or something? I just want to make sure I buy the correct midi cables. I have the v-amp pro and a m-audio 2496 sound card, just incase you needed to know. Thank you very much!!!

Thank you very much, I will be trying this later tonight.

Do you use the master (I am usuming this is the master volume), knob on the v-amp pro? Mine does not seem to make any difference.

Thanks very much for the info on the cabs, I play death metal so a heavy guitar sound is what I am going for. I will check them all out and tweak, tweak and tweak...
