I have a sb live and a awe 64, I want to use them both at the same time but can only monitor one at a time. If I enable input monitoring for the 64 ( sb live is main ) I get a delay. I can record w/ both getting 4 seperate inputs 2 on each but I would like to monitor all inputs without switching my monitor setup any suggestions?

Actually, if you listen closely, recording with 2 cards at the same time is not working.

Each SB has its own clock crystal to generate timing for the 44.1Khz sampling rate when you are recording audio. More expensive cards allow you to sync to an external or master clock source - SB's do not have this capability.

If you record something long enough, eventually the tracks from the different cards will drift apart and be out of sync.

The reason for the SB64's delay is most likely the latency associated with its drivers. To reduce the delay, you would need to be using WDM drivers. Because that card is so old, I doubt the drivers are WDM compliant.

This is some good info. Sorry it's not my thread but thanks anyway.
