Using the Yamaha SPX-90 or 90 II as a vocal harmonizer?

You can, but it's really, really, really, really bad. I tried it, and it sounds awful. I's O.K. for just pitch shifting for vocal sound effects, but to use as a harmony tool, it just doesn't cut it.

Did I mention it sounds bad ?:D

Otherwise, I love my SPX90II - use it all the time.

Cheers,

Thanks Mike...I figged that would be the answer. What do you like about using the 90 II, care to provide some examples of usage?

I use it mainly as a reverb, delay, or panning on vocals, guitar, or guitar synth.

I've got a few favorites patches saved, but I usually just play with the parameters until I find the sound or vibe I'm looking for at the time. I find I have more fun starting from scratch, and I get more ideas that way.

I saw your other thread in the rack forum, and agree with Bruce that it has very usable effects (flange/chorus/delays/ambient stuff).
