A while back I had asked if anyone had come up with a way of mounting these types of microphones to drums that have RIMS mounts. I did get a few reponses, but none were a solution that I was happy with. So I put the 'ol thinking cap on and went to work. What I realized is the RIMS bracket that the mic would clip onto isn't wide enough to hold it in place snuggly. So I went to Home Depot bought a 4 foot length (it only came in 4' sections) of 1" x 1/8" flat stock. Cut it into the lengths that I needed and bent it to match the curve of the RIM it was to be attached to. I mounted it using 2 hose clamps (I don't remember which size, but if anyone wants to know I'll find out) and then clipped the mics on.
Is it perfect? Probably not, but I'm pleased with it because it is stable, their not gonna fall off, and I feel it's a better solution than anything else I had heard.
Anway, I put up a page with 5 crappy pictures here that should help you see what I did. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
