using one midi device to trigger a pre-programmed series of notes?

hello,

hypothetical question: would it be possible to set up, say, an electronic drum pad so that each strike would trigger one in a series of pre-programmed midi notes or events?

So, if i programmed a simple melody: A, G, D, A, i could get the drum pad to play A on the first strike, G on the second strike, D on the third, etc?

If so, what hardware/software can do this? Is it something I already own that the manuals have been too abstruse to reveal?

midi-related equipment i have:

roland mc-300
roland jx-305
some kind of yamaha electronic drum kit that my drummer has which he doesn't have the manual for...

thanks!

nothing that I know of does that

if you want to easily trigger loops from a controller, look at ableton live

Roland JP8080 rack does that , you can program a sequence tied to individual keys on your keyboard. Its called the RPS feature

I use it alot when jamming , its really cool to have and something that adds alot of fun to playing live :D

Doh! re-read the post and realised you want it for drums :o
