But the source I have in mind is the radio, not a microphone.
As If were going to record myself performing an original song.
Specifically the internet radio is what I am interested in.
I would think this would be possible.
any body ever done this.
 
Are you looking to record a soutcast internet radio station to your hard drive?
If so, use Winamp and StreamRipper plugin. That way you'll keep everything in the digital domain and won't have to worry about your sound card's d/a a/d converters.

Yes there is a way to record from your sound card to your hard drive. I use a free program called FREE Hi-Q Recorder by Roemer Software. It's a slick little program that will record to your hard drive anything that you can hear through your speakers, And it's easy to use.
