hello everybody. what would your opinion be about using an mp3 sample in a mix, even if its bitrate is 320kbps? would it work to improve the sound of the file by using EQ and dynamics? the reason im asking that is because i like to chop samples from some beautiful music that i have in mp3 format by Stravinsky or Xenakis for example, like violins, melodies or other interesting textures and noises. or even drum loops from 70's funk and jazz albums, and use these samples in various experiments that i make. its obvious that mp3 is not wav quality, but i wonder if various dynamics plugins can help improve the sound and make it richer

I'd expect processing more likely to reveal the weaknesses of mp3 than to cover it. I'd only use mp3 audio in a project if there were no alternative. If the project matters then go find uncompressed versions of the audio you want to use. Then contact Harry Fox Agency.

If it was 320kbps I doubt anyone would notice...maybe some of these top studio guys with better ears than me but no way would I notice..

Ive used mp3 vocals in a song before because they were as good as I could hear..

Now I can tell the difference between 128 kbps...or even 24 bit samples to 16bit sometimes..but 320??
