Why cant I use these in Acid? They wont show up in my explorer window. Do they need to be converted or something

They won't sho up in the Acid Explorer Window, but if you open a Windows Explorer Window you can "Drag" them into Acid and it will convert it for you and drop it as the next available track...
Otherwise, yes... convert them... I would opt to convert them. Use WavLab... it's pretty good for batch conversions...
