I have a Yamaha N12 Desk with only one Auxilery send.
I was wanting to use this to feed monitors for the vocals etc.
I have EZ drummer running in cubase and I want to send ezdrummers signal to a channel (as it alredy is ) and then run this out (by itself) to a powered speaker so only the drums are coming through the 15 inch powered speaker that i have for listening to the drums while playing, trying to save my small but great Yamaha NS10's from a reaming.ie(ABUSE).

Can I use the Insert I/O from the drum tracks channel to send a signal into the speaker. These seem to use a biodirectional TRS connector, but if i use a TRS connector from the Insert I/O on the mixer (tip is hot and sleeve cold ) to a TS connector into the Powered speaker ( tip hot and sleeve cold.)

Would this work .
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Whitey

Inserts are usually:

tip - send
ring - return
sleeve - ground

They are not balanced unless there are separate jacks for send and return. The insert jack is a normalling jack, so when you insert a plug you will interrupt signal flow on that channel.

UNLESS you make a cable that wires tip and ring together on the mixer side to tip on the speaker side. Or you can do the "insert to the first click" trick, but that is kinda Mickey Mouse and this is the DIY board, so make yourself a proper cable!

Not true, you can simply use a 1/4' cable and only insert it to the first click. I do it all the time. :D
