anyone here use Mackie HR624 without a sub and still feel happy?
just always heard everybody said if go on HR624,then get a sub.if not,buy HR824.
so I wonder if anyone enjoy only a pair of HR624.
HR824 is too big to place in my bed room and I can't afford a sub.

I would definately get a sub with the 6, i would definately get a sub with the 8 too. I would definately not buy mackies for the price they are going for better things can be had. IMHO.

I mix with 624s and gots no complaints. I don't even regret not buying 824s, as once I learned my monitors, all became good. As for the sub, I don't need it, and wouldn't recommend it with the 824s. Also, I think there's some moderately serious issues to address re: sub placement, though I'd investigate that a bit more if my shit was set up in a more permanent situation.

When I need to check the rumble factor, I either flip a switch and send the audio through my club speakers, run to the car for a quick check, or thump it out with the ol' bookshelf system.

All that to say I'm very happy with my 624s minus the sub woofer...

good luck.

Mackie HR824's

I was recently informed by a local sound engineer, and Guitar Center salesguy that the HR824's deliver a "pre-compressed signal"(used exclusively for film scoring) and that this will mislead us when mixing.Any comments?

The 624 are even better than the 824 for the smooter mid frequencies....
the 824, cause his crossover freq, tend to "hide" the voice, the 624 don't.

If you like mackie go with the 624.
You can still add a sub in the future.

Personally I think that both are overpriced (both are THX certified...and you pay also this!)

peace
