I was reading a recent EQ Mag. and saw advertized some RCA cables that were quite expensive. I think they were gold plated. Does the use of these higher end cables make an appreciable difference in recording. I use the standard XLR cable that came with my AKG Mic. and what ever RCA cables may have came with any old cassette deck I may have purchased in the past. I also use a 1/4" to RCA to record CD Backrounds onto my Cassette 4 Track, and then add my trumpet VIA Mic. to the Backgrounds. RCA to RCA from the back of the 4 track to the CD Recorder to make my mixed master CD. I also realize going digital would produce cleaner results, but I Enjoy the Analog currently. Any Thoughts? A good place to buy them? DB

IMO as long as you have good-quality cables, and your connections are clean, there is no benefit to gold connectors. Not to you, anyway. I'm sure the people who sell them see all kinds of benefits, mostly from selling a more expensive product. For RCA cables, I doubt you will do much better than what you get at the stereo store, with nickel connectors. After that, I think people convince themselves they hear an improvement directly proportional to how much money they spent ;) .
