Using Drum Loops

I've recently started using drum loops in my recordings. They sound great, a marked improvement over tapping out beats on my drum machine... however, I now lose the ability to pan. Is there anything I can do to create a more realistic stereo image using loops? I've read about a stereo widening plug-in, but not quite sure if this would give me the desired result. Anyone wanna throw in their two cents? Thanks!

If you want to create realistic (and great) sounding drums without the hassle of a drummer, the only real options are the drum sample plug-ins like DKFH and other similar programs. Otherwise, your drum tracks will ALWAYS sound like a pre-programmed drum machine. If you are ok with that, then just have diferent drums on differnt tracks so you can pan each track. Toms for example....one tom per track and pan each track from left to right.

I recently got help on my DKFH application for a certain member on the forum....I can honestly say that program kicks ASS. It is SOOOO worth $70.00.

Split the stero track into 2 mono tracks and then just automate the pan so each hit is panned differently

Redrum is probably the easiest way to get this type of job done. u can add an effects device to one of the drum channel, and route the output of the effects device to the mixer's sends.
