using DBX 163x as Bass DI box?

Hi Everyone,
I want to try and experiment with using a DBX 163x as a Bass DI for recording. But, I'm a little confused about how to connect the 163x to the mixing board, and what cable connectors will give me the best results?

Should I use a 1/4" --> XLR, OR a 1/4" --> 1/4" (into the Line Level Input) or does it matter?

My mixing board has both a 1/4" LINE IN, (for unbalanced line level signal) and XLR INPUT.
 
I use the 163x all the time for bass. Plug the bass into the hi Z input on the front. And run the 1/4" output into the line input of your mixer. I get very good results using the 163x.
