I'm considering entering the DAW realm, though the choices of software is dumbfounding...Does anyone know if I can use my XT as an A/D interface into a PC? If so, is there software in particular that supports this, or is it pretty much a universal thing? I just don't want to have to purchase additional hardware if it isn't necessary...

Thanks in advance...

Yes, if you have a soundcard that will accept the lightpipe cables, or a converter from lightpipe to whatever your soundcard will accept.

Ahhhhh, most cool....I haven't acquired the PC yet, the one I'm on is our office unit, we have two others that are otherwise occupied, so I'll be buying a DAW-specific PC...Which gives me the opportunity to pick and choose components designed for the job...I wasn't aware that audio cards were manufactured with lightpipe connects, but I guess they'll build whatever they can get people to buy (do ya get the feelin' I'm a bit ignernt on the subject?).

I know that Alesis makes interfaces that are optic-connect based, but I'm not sure if there's an optic-to-9 pin converter cable or an optic-to-USB converter cable out there. I have some research and shopping to do (such as Mac vs. PC), though I'm leaning towards the Steinberg product...

Thanks for the info ez...

Here is 2 examples of many to choose from. These will allow you to connect the xt directly to the computer. Do some research cause there are compatability issues and other considerations.

Just be aware that you can not do A/D on some channels and D/A on others at the same time.
