Using ADAT to integrate outboard gear with my DAW

HI all

I'm currently deciding what outbaord gear Im going to keep, and once I have, I'm going to figure how to integrate it into my set-up. I have an EMU 1820M soundcard and am looking at 8 channel mic pre/ADAT IO units (namely, Behringer ADA8000 and Focusrite Octopre LE).

To incorporate - for example - a hardware reverb into my DAW, will this work:

WAV file -> EMU 1820M ADAT Out -> Octopre ADAT In -> Octopre Analogue Out -> Patchbay -> Reverb In -> Reverb Out -> Patchbay -> Octopre Analogue In -> Octopre ADAT Out -> EMU 1820M ADAT In -> WAV file with reverb?

1. So is anyone doing this or something similar and does it work OK?

2. Would there be any issue with latency? Would I have time to make a cup of tea and nip outside for a cig while the audio was on its journey (I bloody need it)?

3. What would be the best way of clocking...ADAT or Wordclock? And should I use the EMU or the Octopre LE as the Master?

I'm hoping to set things up with a patchbay or three so that I can also use the Octopre's pre-amps (not at the same time of course) with a bit of repatching.

Would appreciate it if anyone has the time to help.

Cheers

Max
