Used VS-840EX

Hi, I just purchased a used VS-840EX. It looks in really good condition and I have been trying for several hours, to make an EZ Routing recording, so far without success. I put my guitar through an amp and used earphones to listen for playback without any result.I have a new 250 zip card inserted and have formatted it in the machine. Is there anyway that I can do any checks at all just to check any of the functions and to make sure that I am not flogging a dead horse.(Which sounds like more fun at the moment). There are so many bells and whisles that I don't know what I may be doing or not doing wrong. I have no recording experience, but am reasonably sane, But I may be bragging a bit. Any help at all appreciated.

Hi again, I have outsmarted myself and managed to record and playback. I will have to figure out how I did it, but at least the equipment seems to be working OK. I would still appreciate any hints or tips which would help me learn about recording with this outfit. Can anyone tell me how to obtain or download the Demo Song that came with the VS-840EX.

Thanks to everyone for the help especially the Emails. I have learned a lot and i am sure that I can make the CF Mod OK. I have ordered the CF adapter and mounting plate and I am waiting for delivery. I am expecting to have some teething troubles using the setup, but right now I'm good. Thanks again for the help and to John444 for the great pictures and Information. I am happy that I joined this list and appreciate the good will and knowledge of the people on it.
