I posted a version of this a few weeks or months ago. I tracked and mixed everything in one afternoon after hearing it on the radio. The only reason I did it was because I started playing along to it on the drums and found the beat really cool, so I decided to learn all the parts and do it for the hell of it.

The other day, I decided to re-do the drums and vocals. So here it is. Nothing special, just a fun tune to play.

Let me know how the mix is.

Thanx

USE ME {Bill Withers cover)

The mix sounds like a record. Never heard the original so I had a quick look in youtube. Your version is true to the original but with your own flavours. Nice take on it

I'd pan the guitars out a little wider, just to accent the different styles a bit

Good for you.

:)

Lol!

This sounds pretty good to me. I think I'd like more bass gtr. There's room for it to be louder. Drums sound pretty dang tight. I don't know the original, but this song doesn't really do you any justice. I miss the harmonies and changes and stuff in your originals. I kept waiting for some boom-pow moments, but they never came. It's just a cover though, so no biggee. Well done overall. :)

Thanx Greg. I can bring up the bass, no problem. Yeah, not the kind of tune that I would usually do. Just threw it together on a whim. Like you said, it's just a cover so I didn't have to do much thinking. Thanx man.

I got one for ya........

I'm not a Beatles fan, but if you're up for it and don't have any originals going, do me some "Back in the USSR". I can hear it Rami-style in my head. that would be cool. :D

Not a bad idea. That would probably a pretty easy one. I'll think about it next time I do a cover.

Cool...I like how you mimicked the (synth? Organ? Moog???) in the original with the guitar. If I wasn't familiar with the original, I'd probably bitch about the guitar tone, but it works here.

Thanks for posting.

Sorry Bull, I missed this first time around. Thanx a lot man.

Thanx Chris. Yeah, the guitar sound is werid because, not that I was trying to make it sound like a distorted clavinet or whatever that is, but I was trying to get something that works for that keyboard riff as opposed to a "good" guitar sound.

Good for you.
HAHA! LOL. :D Pre-emptive sarcasm. I like it! :)
You better believe it! Good tune RAMI.
It is a good tune. Still trying to figure out what that keyboard sound is on the original. I'm thinking distorted clavinet?

Nice Rami, don't know the original either. I like the guitar tone a lot - sounds like an old Stevie Wonder keyboard line or something.

Good on/for/work you

Sounds good - is there more bottom on the vocals than last time? Maybe it's the inflections going lower... Anyway it sounds pretty tight - no mix issues... performance is great as always! Drums sound just right now - you always get that signature sound from room to room...and it never takes too long..

Thanx Rob.

Yeah, this song came out around the same era that Stevie was around, so it probably has the same flavor.

Thanx Ido.

I've stopped moving. We've actually been in this house for 2 whole years now!. :D

It's the same vocal set-up, so it might be my voice. One of the reasons I re-tracked it is because I noticed my voice sounded like I had a cold, because I did, the first time I recorded this. So, my voice probably just sounds fuller since I didn't have a cold this time around.

Thanx for the listen, bro.

Hmm.... I've never done a cover before. Maybe I should try it. Good for me. I like your vocals on this one, Rami.

Covers are fun when I'm in between originals. I always learn something or get an idea along the way, too. Either about song-writing and/or mixing.

Damn those drums sound great...
Thanx man. As long as I don't over-think it and mess with them too much, I'll put my drum tracks up against anyone's. I say that because in my last tune, I had a great drum track and then messed it up by trying to align my tracks for no good reason. :D
