I have Shure FP33 mixer and the Fostex FR2. I was wondeing if I should just record straight into the Fostex or us the mixer?

I have been looking through the forums and can not find the answer.

1. I am only using one mic at a time.

2. I am just recording dialogue.

I was just wondering if it is just better to through a mixer for some reason.

for what your doing just into the fostex will be fine you probably wont notice a difference going through a mixer

The FR2 has decent mic pre-amps and phantom power if you need it so the FP33 adds nothing to the party except an extra cable to go wrong and more batteries to die at the wrong time. (The FP33 is a pretty ancient design anyhow and, when I was involved in that sort of thing, was my least favourite field mixer anyway--I really disliked the metering in particular.)
