USB versus Sound cards

What are the pros and cons of having say a USB hardware like the omni and a card setup like the delta 44. The prices on the usb are alot less. Will I not get the quality like i would with a card or just what. please help. I need to make a decision soon so I can get my studio up.

One word: reliability. PCI cards are more reliable.
Another word: Speed. PCI cards are faster than usb 1
Last word:Throughput. If you want to record & monitor more than 2 tracks at 24 bit, you need PCI.

Other than that usb 1 is great

I use a usb interface with success for my small one man set-up. If you only need 2 track simultaneous recording they can be ok. Mine is an Aardvark and functions as a mini-mixer also, and I can control my monitors from it. It's convenient and comfortable to use for me. But YMMV. And everything Bull's hit said is accurate.
