Just today I purchased the Voyetra USB Music Studio Kit, and have encountered a problem that I can't seem to straighten out. I 've used our Casio CTK-521 (trusty little cheapie) as a controller, and the played notes - coming back from the PC - are always at least a second behind the actual key presses.

Any ideas?

Ok you got a midi latency, well could be a driver problem or try refreshing the instruments in midi settings and play it.

Jeyan,

Thanks for your speedy response. I had originally purchased that package so as to take advantage of a software (piano) instruction program for one of my children, who wishes to learn to play. I, too, would have usage of the USB MIDI adapter, as it would afford me the opportunity to do some tracking within my CakeWalk Pro Audio 9. You hit the nail on the head, with your opinion, because the following is what I gained from the program's troubleshooting area:

If the sound seems to lag behind actually playing the notes, select another MIDI output port. This is a typical problem when using software synthesizers.

I have selected every other available MIDI output port, but the same problem persists. My soundcard is the SoundBlaster Live, and I am attempting to use the Roland VSC plugin with it. I can hear sounds (though delayed) only when the Roland VSC driver is selected, and also only when the MIDI 'Thru" is activated. Someone else mentioned to me that the problem might be due to something he referred to as "Echo back", and advised me to look for a way (on the Casio) to turn this function off. I looked for an 'Echo back' or 'Local off' command - but could find neither. In fact, the Casio doesn't seem to offer much at all in the sense of making MIDI command changes. All I could find was a window for selecting keyboard channels; something shown as "TonMap" giving the ability to select between "N" and "G". The former is understood, but the latter leaves me clueless as to what it refers to (I don't have the Casio's manual).

Blessings,

Nathan

Well, I fooled around with this thing a little more, and was finally able to better the issue (to some degree, anyway). The latency was corrected by selecting SoundBlaster Live for the output driver. The Roland VSC driver is the one which causes the latency, and I hope that there is some type of work-a-round by which to get it to sound in timely fashion to the play action.

Blessings,

Nathan
