USB MIC Need Help.

I'm in the market for a home studio mic. (Mostly acoustic stuff, mainly Vocals, pianos and guitar... The only problem is that it needs to be USB.

Can anyone recommend a good studio quality mic? I've looked at a few and have seen the SHURE PG-42 USB mic and was wondering if it is any good? Plus, I was unsure weather the SHURE SM-58 with an X2U USB adapter would be better. If anyone could shed some light on this, I would be really grateful.

Get a proper USB interface. Then you can connect any microphone or line source (probably two at a time if needed), and you'll get an output as well. Don't hobble yourself with a USB mic or single input USB adapter.

I would suggest doing some searching through the forum. This question has been asked and answered hundreds of times.

I'd take a look at M-audio interfaces.
 
Edirol (yamaha/roland) has a few interfaces that look decent.
Focusrite has a few too.
M-Audio and others.

A Zoom H4n could probably fit the bill too. It really depends on your needs / budget. USB is normally limited to 2 channels + 16 bit + 48kHz. Although they've finally started to come out with some decent 24/96 interfaces. With drivers that don't completely suck.

Avoid USB mics as they don't have much resale value. And lack a lot of features that you'll need for anything other than a podcast. Plus your selection gene pool is kind of limited.
