I'm having a problem with my ps/2 keyboard input jack that may be unrepairable, will
a USB keyboard do just as well?I'd rather buy a keyboard than replace the motherboard.

As I mentioned in your other thread, your BIOS will have to support a USB keyboard. Now the keyboard might work in Windows without BIOS support, but you won't be able to get into the BIOS setup or do anything outside of windows without BIOS support for the keyboard.

Other than that, yeah they should work about the same. USB isn't as nice on a DAW, but it works well enough. I have a USB optical mouse, and if I intentionally shake the sucker around I can cause dropouts in multi-track playback...but it's not a real noticable problem until I get up into 24 tracks.
