I am looking for an USB interface for my setup. I have come across the following and am stuck. Any suggestions? Which one you recommend/stay away from. I will be using a 3GB/ 250 GB HD PC w/Vista I think.

Line 6 POD UX2
M-Audio Fast Track Pro
Tapco Firelink 4x6
Tascam US 144 USB 4x4
Yamaha Audiogram 6 Computer Recording System

As you see, my price range is under $200 or so. If you have another one, please let me know. Thanks for helping the Newbie!

Let me add that I will only be recording vocals and a keyboard.

Sometimes at the same time, and sometimes the keyboard first, and then the vocals.

Thanks

USB will only let you record 2 tracks (at the most) at a time, so if your keyboard has a stereo output which you want to record in stereo, you will not be able to record your vocals at the same time. Consider a Firewire interface.

Ok, but what is required or what do you need with a firewire interface?

You need a firewire port on your computer. Not optional.

You need a firewire audio interface device... but not for under $200.

Any of those would work wonders for stereo recording. Go cheap. You might want to expand later. Save your money. I use a hand-me-down Mackie VLZ-1402 > Alesis LineLink USB until I get my Firewire AI (and a new laptop that supports firewire lol)
