USB condenser mic sensitivity problem

Umm, hi. I registered here minutes ago-- so if this is the wrong forum for this thread, please do correct me. Thank you!

So I got a problem here.

I have a Samson C01U USB condenser mic.
It appears the mic's sensitivity is now different from when I used it the first time. It's not as sensitive as it used to be.

I realized this via recording volume and also its waveform; it's considerably smaller than how it used to be using the same mic sensitivity level.

I know I've been kinda careless; like leaving the mic when it's not used in random places in my room and not correctly positioning/casing it. Yeah ;_; I'm just a careless amateur home-recording singer. Yeah, or you can change it into 'common careless teenager'.

So.. any idea what's the cause? Is it related to the laptop I'm using? Or just the mic in general? Or other stuff (cable, plug, port, etc.)?

And also.. any idea what should I do about it, to make its sensitivity back to normal? ;_;

I'd appreciate any feedback, and if you need more information about this situation please do specify.

Unless it got wet or very dirty, it's unlikely that leaving the mic around your room would have damaged it.

More likely, the software level control for the mic has been adjusted and turned down--first thing I'd do is go to the audio control panel, double click on the section for your Samson mic and adjust the Mic slider and probably the Mic Boost slider if there is one. (This assumes Windows Vista or 7--there'll be similar for a Mac but I couldn't tell you how to get there).

I never expose the mic directly to any liquid, and also I didn't left it unused for a long time (the last time I used it was about a week ago) so having it really dirty is also unlikely.

Ah.. but I'm not quite sure about damp environment.. I did spill some water on top of the place where I carelessly put the mic after that, but I thought it's dry already. But considering what happened to the mic now, I can't be sure
I also never put any.. cover, so.. dirty can always be the cause. ;_;

and about adjusting the mic slider, I've tried that. The level actually never changes; it's always the same. It's just the volume output/sensitivity after I recorded; with the same slider level as before--they differ in sensitivity now

If in the end it really was because it got wet/dirty, can I do something about it? (other than just bring it to a service)
