So I'm about to order a 500 GB SanDisk Portable SSD for storage, and I see it's got some newer ports and USB ratings (USB-C & USB 3.2 Gen 2). I assumed all these newer USBs are backward compatible with the 2.0 & 3.0 ports on my desktop PC, but just for kicks, I dug up this series of articles and a compatibility chart that may be helpful for some of us not so clear on the subject.
The SSD I'm getting does come with a USB-C to A adapter, so other than having to run at the slower speeds from the PC's 2.0/3.0 ports, this should work out fine for me. Especially since I'll only be using it to transfer and store files which won't require speedy recalls - slower USB speeds work fine for my current needs.
