USB...can it replace a decent soundcard?

i have a question....i have a P.O.S. soundcard....creative labs 1 in 3 out....recording with 1 in 3 out is a nightmare...my question is if a get a USB interface will my sonar input selector recognize each input on the USB as a seperate one so ican record them to different Sonar tracks?

Yes, Sonar should recognize each individual input from the USB interface. Now one thing you need to considder is this...USB2.0 vs Firewire. If you have firewire ports on your machine, you may want to considder a small firewire interface, as they have generally shown better performance than similar USB2.0 devices.
