Hi

i have been recording with an edirol ua20 and cakewalk sonar 5 for all of 3 day and its driving me mad! well the infernal popping and clicking on playback is! i have a pc fitted with a sb audigy 2 souncard, 512 ram, 1.4ghz processor, but for some reason i dont think my usb connections are usb 2.0. do you think this may be the reasoning for the pops and clicks ? i have tried all sorts to sort them out. IRQ conflicts, incresing buffering (whihc reduces pops but not eliminates), prioritising background processes.

its about the only thing i can think is wrong. i have installed the edirol and sonar on my laptop and its working fine on there!

help if you can

thanks

did you try checking all of your cables?
how many tracks are you recording and are they on each track you record?
and lastly when you burn a CD do you here the clicks on playback?

checked!

thanks for the reply

have checked the cables in that they are all connected fine!

recording one audio track- playback i solo'd the track and the pops are there. i havent tried burning a cd yet because i didnt see the point - but after exporting to wav the pops have gone. so the are only there on playback. hence why i think its a usb issue

if after exporting it to a .wav and the pops are gone i would suggest burning a CD and listening on another source to verify they aren't audible. If you feel its the USB you can buy a USB2.0 pci card for under 30 bucks and try that out but your device has to support USB 2.0 as well.
