if I'm running a stand-alone pre thorugh the line-in, what do I set the mic/line switch to?

Thanks scrubs, I'm a tard when it comes to pres...so irrespective of the fact that the Tascam compensates for high impedance instruments, like electric guitars, no matter what the pre amp is powering (mics, guitar, whatever) it goes to the line input right?
