Mixing and Mastering.
What are your opinions on these plug ins?
Whats the 1980s classic compressor like and whats the EQs like?

I saw that you can get the demo but I dont like downloading loads of demos and filling up my registry and then realising that the plug in is rubbish!

I know what you mean!

If demo software guaranteed during un-install that it would delete *everything* it had installed, I'd definately try more stuff out.
However, I'll never drop the dime on something without trying it out first.

Sorry, I've never used those plugs either. I would like to know how they sound as well. :)

That's why God created registry editors! :D

Registry Editors do not remove the registry entries that demo's put in.

The URS plugins are pretty darn good! I do not think you could possibly regret purchasing them!

Ditto. However i prefer the 1970 comp to the 1980.

Most things that are put into the registry can be removed with regedit.

If demos removed the registry entries they put in there then anyone could just download, use it for 30 days, then uninstall/re-install it and use it indefinitely.

i prefer regedt32 over regedit, but what's the difference, really. :P you just need to get good at editing the registry, and that's not for the faint of heart.

anyway, i love the URS eqs. excellent plugins. haven't used the compressors.

cheers,

For the EQ's: I like the API EQ and API graphic EQ. I like the neve graphic EQ especially on low mid cuts. I like the Neve EQ's high pass when I need something really sharp sounding, and the low shelf is pretty good too. The SSL EQ is pretty good, I like it on drums. I don't care for any of the mix EQ's, not sure why. Anyone else feel the same way? I also think the graphic EQ's sound better than the normal EQ's, especially the Neve. I think I'm just weird.

I would get rid of your soundblaster audigy before getting new plugs though.

If I had to pick 2 I'd say get the normal API EQ and the graphic Neve EQ. I chose the normal API EQ because it has more options. I like the shelfs.

You smart guys try to find all the registry entries that demos put in. They hide the key ones pretty damn good, and no auto registry do dads can weed them out, otherwise, who the hell would buy software?

Yea, they do. But then there are the free programs called RegMon and FileMon, which monitor changes to the registry and the file system.

It even shows what process (the installer?) is modifying the registry, and where in the registry things are being modified, etc. ;)

With that said, they are hardly cracking tools. Most people use debuggers and disassemblers or memory monitors. I know this because I've (tried) to put anti-debugger/disassembler stuff in my software and it just wasn't reliable.

There is no cure for piracy. Everything in the digital domain can be copied.

UAD seems to have found a cure ;)

Thanks all for the posts.
I think its safe to say that the URS EQs are decent enough to dirty up my registry with the demos. :)

Cheers all

I'll second that...
Yeah 1970s comp sounds warmer. The 1980s comp brings out a sublte high end that I amnt sure of.

1970s is tasty!
