I don't remember all the stuff you need to double check in standard CD authorizing software to produce "Red Book" audio CD's, but usually what will make the disk rejected by the manufacturing plant is that you probably burned it as a "Track At Once" disk rather than a "Disk At Once" disk.
Be aware that Nero might not produce Red Book disks! I have never used it, so I cannot attest to it's coverage in this area. I used to use HotBurn by Sony, and it would create Red Book disks, but you had to do a lot of manual edits in the program when authoring the disk to produce Red Book standards.
Wavelab 3 and 4 both have CD authoring programs right in the software (meaning you can burn a disk right from the software) that produce Red Book standard disks. I have never had a master come back from the pressing plant yet using versions 3 or 4, so I can attest that they do a fine job.
There are other editing software that can author Red Book standard disks too. I would recommend Wavelab 4 though as it also comes with some very decent DSP plugin's that might assist in improving the sonic qualities of your masters, and it is one hell of an editor. Nuendo is a fine editor too, but I do not recall if it has authoring software within the application or not.
Good luck.
