Hello there,

I am an Amateur Home recording enthusiast, I recently loaded Cool Edit Pro into my PC and enjoyed using it.

When I tried out the Multi Track option, I seem to be having problems. When I insert a Keyboard track in Track 1 and have track 2 recording the voice, the software ends up also recording the Track 1 again as well as recording the voice. I have tried to reload the software but the same problem occurs again.

I use a Pentium 4, and have fixed Audigy Platinum Sound Card from Creative Labs.

Can I have some guidance as to what I must be doing...I really would like to have this sorted out...

Loking forward to hearing from fellow enthusiast...

silas,

I don't use that sound card, but I think I've seen the answer to your question on this board.

Open the Creative mixer and under the 'record' properties, select 'LINE-IN'. That should record only what you're feeding into the line-in on the soundcard.

If you have 'what you hear' selected, it'll record the wav playing back and what's coming in thru the line-in.

Don't forget to deselect record for the keyboard track. It should be green while you record your voice track.

Hi Trigger,

Thanks for the suggestion, shall try this out by this evening (as I am at work) and hopefully it must work.

I do remember seeing this option while going over the properties...I am learning and thanks so much for supporting this..

Shall be in touch.

Thanks Trigger, it worked...

Your words of wisdom was very useful. One more help!!!

I am using my Analog mix into the system through the Mic input and have Mic volume at 50%, is this the right way to do it? or do I use the Line in option...please let me know.

Thanks

You should use the LINE IN, and you should have the volume at 100%. Anything less is a post recording digital alteration to volume before it hits the multitrack, and you're going to lose fidelity.
